A 7-segment LED display is a common type of electronic display that can show decimal numbers and some alphanumeric characters. It consists of seven individual LED segments arranged in a specific pattern to form the numbers from 0 to 9 and a few additional characters like A, B, C, etc.
Each segment in a 7-segment display represents a specific part of a digit. The segments are labeled from "a" to "g" and can be lit up individually or in combination to display different numbers or characters. The arrangement of segments allows for the representation of the full range of decimal digits.

The common pin of the display is usually connected to a power source, and the other pins are connected to the control circuitry that selects which segments to light up. By selectively turning on and off the appropriate segments, you can display different numbers or characters.
For example, to display the number "0," you would light up segments a, b, c, d, e, f, and leave segment g turned off. Similarly, to display the number "1," you would only light up segments b and c.
